Starter activity: Completion of last lesson’s Give me 5 activity. Summary of Tasks: Letter Generator: Pupils have to come up with as many words using the letters of the alphabet as they can using the stimulus given. Beat The Teacher: There is a task on Biblical references based on the prophecies of the Messiah- for a bit of beat the teacher fun!! Cartoon Strip: Pupils will then have the opportunity to retell the story of the Nativity as their remember it using the Cartoon Strip resources. 2 Video clips: PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS SUGGESTED THAT YOU USE THE NATIVITY STORY’ (2009) FILM FOR THIS LESSON. If this is not available, then feel free to use any clips you see fit. Biblical Accounts: Pupils are given the Biblical accounts as found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. They are tasked with completing a Venn Diagram on these passages. YouTube Clip: Pupils will then watch as short video based on the myths surrounding the Nativity and fill in a worksheet accordingly. Finally…There is a Revision Placemat based on the information needed for the exam. Pupils can be given this or we use it initially as an A3 laminated work mat. Pupils can use this to answer the new style exam questions a)-d). Homework: Pupils must fill in the Unwrapping the Nativity worksheet with as much information as possible. Plenary: The Nativity Quiz-18 questions and answers based on the birth narratives-pupils absolutely love this!! This section is interactive and includes music. This pack includes: PowerPoint: 32 slides!!! Resource Booklet: 8 Sheets. This lesson contains a really fun starter activity Who live in a house like this? The Nativity that can be purchased as a standalone resource for £2. The lesson takes pupils through the importance of advent and the advent wreath. They have to complete a posted on the advent wreath and Christingle based on internet research they carry out. If you do not have access to the internet during lessons it is advisable that the lesson prior to this you give them a research homework on these items. There is a match up activity on the various symbols of Christmas and their significance. Pupils are taken through a Christmas Mass within the Roman Catholic Church and have to complete an order task based on this. Following which, pupils can complete a summary sheet. Plenary is one of our interactive activities-the 5Ws. This is used to summarise the lesson. Assessment: Jesus-Man or God? This is a fully resources Grab and Go lesson based on the statement ‘Jesus was just a man’. Pupils will have to answer a 12 mark evaluation question based on the evidence they gather from lesson 1 and formulate a response as to whether they think Jesus was Man or God. Lesson 1: Starter: This is our Starter and Plenary Prompt Selector, which alone is worth £3 Pupils will have the opportunity to look back at their previous assessment level and determine what they will need to be doing in next lesson’s assessment to gain the same or a higher level. This will aid their planning of the assessment task and prepare them for the assessment. Pupils will have to read a handout on the person of Jesus and 4 main aspects of his life and deduce what parts of his life point towards him being God or man. They will also be given a Biblical quotes placemat that they will use to decide what the Bible says about the person of Jesus. Using a Youtube clip (link provided with the PPT) pupils will have to determine which quotes point to Jesus being human and which point towards him being man. There is a choice of two worksheets following this whereby pupils can fill in a Venn diagram or a table using the information they have gathered to distinguish what the teachings say about Jesus’ personhood. Pupils are then introduced to how to complete an evaluation question. Using a worksheet provided in the pack, pupils will follow the framework to answer the evaluation question. Homework: Pupils must take the worksheets home in order that they can revise for he assessment. Lesson 2: Pupils will have this lesson revise for 10 minutes and 30 minutes to complete the assessment. This Bundle Includes 4 of our tutor time /assembly / collective worship resources. Tutor Time / Assembly Pack - October: Tutor Time Pack - October is another of our INTERACTIVE tutor time resources. It contains a range of different tasks that can be completed during Tutor Time. If this is used throughout the school, it is designed to be cascaded through lessons throughout the week. The PPT contains 38 slides. Included in these slides are: Key dates for the month of October, Word of the Week (x 4) Literacy Task for the Week (2 separate tasks) Numeracy Task For the week (2 separate Tasks) Debate topic (4 debate questions, each based on the word for the week). This is an introduction unit used in Religious Education for year 7 pupils at the start of term. In this bundle there is: Lesson 1: An intro to the six major world religions timeline- This lesson is the first in a set of seven designed to introduce pupils to the six of the major world religions. In this lesson, pupils will look at a timeline of the origins of religion, be tasked to recreate this timeline themselves (There are differentiated worksheets and a help sheet for lower ability pupils.) They will also have to colour a map of where the religions began. There are links to 2 videos within this PPT. The second gives and overview of 5 world religions. The sixth pupils have to research for homework. Lesson 2: What is Religion- This is the second lesson in a series of eight lessons on An Introduction to Religion. In this lesson pupils are introduced to the concept of religion, they have to define the term themselves. They are then taken through the characteristics of religion. Lesson 3 & 4: Religious Symbols- This is a ZERO PREP, Grab & Go Lesson! It is the third in a set of eight designed to introduce pupils to the six of the major world religions. It has enough content to span two lessons. In this lesson, pupils will discuss the meaning of the word ‘symbol’ and why we have symbols in everyday life (including religion). They will complete a symbols quiz. The next activity takes them through the six major world religions and the basic of these religions. There are Religion ID cards included in this pack (three to a page or two to a page for lower ability. There is also further detail on the slides that follow this. Plenary: Pupils have to complete an A-Z activity based on today’s learning. Homework: pupils will be tasked with creating an origami booklet of the 6 major world religions. Includes our How To Make An Origami Booklet PPT Lesson 5 & 6: Six Major World Religions - Marketplace-This is a ZERO PREP, Grab & Go Lesson!This resource is the fourth and fifth lesson in the series of eight into an ‘Introduction to Religion’. This series of lessons id designed to introduce pupils to the six of the major world religions. This resource is designed to be taught over the course of two lessons. Usually pupils will research three religions per lesson, making a total of six religion researched over the course of two lessons. The classroom should be set up into six groups, with resources based on each of the six major world religions. We usually place an iPad on each table along with any textbooks that we have relating to that religion so that pupils can research the religion independently in the given time frame. There are two worksheets that the pupils can be given. There is a general two-sided worksheet with space for information on all six religions to be placed. There is also a more detailed fact sheet for pupils to fill in (one side of A4 for each religion). The choice is yours as to whether you give both worksheets to the pupils or just a single worksheet based on the ability of the class. Lesson 7 : Religious Festivals- This is a ZERO PREP, Grab & Go Lesson! This resource is the sixth and seventh lesson in the series of eight into an ‘Introduction to Religion’. This series of lessons is designed to introduce pupils to the six of the major world religions. In this lesson pupils discuss the importance of festivals and under take a numeracy task based on this (there are differentiated worksheets provided in the pack). Pupils have to create an acrostic poem on the importance of festivals. There are information cards included on religious festivals that are placed at the front of the class for pupils to ‘run’ up to collect and repeat the process once they have completed that section of the worksheet. There is a peer teaching section for pupils to teach each other the festivals in the religion they have researched and a peer assessment section. This resource consists of: PowerPoint ( 33 slides) with a bell task, starter and plenary. Work Booklet (10 pages). Lesson 8: Should Religious Symbols Be Banned? - This is a ZERO PREP, Grab & Go Lesson! This resource is the eighth lesson in the series of an ‘Introduction to Religion’. This series of lessons is designed to introduce pupils to the six of the major world religions. During this lesson pupils will have to undertake a comprehension assessment based on whether symbols should be banned. There is a survey activity for homework included in this pack also. This resource consists of: PowerPoint (12 slides) with a bell task, starter and plenary. Work Booklet (9 pages). Bonus Resources: Bubble Timer-A fun countdown timer that can be used as a time management tool in any lesson. This is a 3 minute, 90 seconds and 60 second timer timer. Each bubble has been set to pop after 10 seconds (3 minute), 5 seconds (90 seconds) and 4 seconds (60 seconds) , but can easily be altered in the animation pane to make the timer shorter or longer. The bubbles can all be selected, copied from this presentation and pasted and inserted into your own or on top of any slide you wish! This lesson is designed to be an introduction to the concept of the Trinity. Starter activity: Pupils are tasked with making an acrostic poem based on prior learning of three key words. Summarise Task: Pupils are given information about the Trinity and asked to summaries this on an A4 map. There is also a link to a youtube video on the Trinity. They will then be required to condense their learning even more into one paragraph. Religious Vocabulary: Pupils have opportunity to use the Religious Studies Vocabulary Booklet to add any additional Key Words they learn during the lesson. The Last week of Jesus’ Life: Pupils are provided with six events in the last week of Jesus’ life and are tasked with ordering them correctly and writing a sentence about each event. The attached PowerPoint takes you through the narrative with sentences for the lower ability pupils. Enjoy! Introduction to Christianity: This lesson is designed to be a summary of some of the key concepts of Christianity. The starter activity is based on our Conveyor Belt activity and is designed to ascertain pupil prior knowledge. Pupils have to complete a peer assessment task based on this also. This PowerPoint has interactive features in the form of a ‘Fidget Spinner Selector’ whereby different religious concepts can be randomly selected. There is a Christianity placemat that is designed to be enlarged to A3 size for pupils to make notes as they progress through the lesson. Pupils have opportunity to use the Religious Studies Vocabulary Booklet to add any additional Key Words they learn during the lesson. Additionally, There is an order activity on the Apostles Creed that can be printed out and laminated for pupils to complete should you wish. The plenary activity is our Rainbow Game interactive activity. There are 20 questions provided for pupils to take part in a class quiz prior to exiting the lesson. Jesus- This is your life (2 hour resource): This is a Grab and Go Lesson! Zero prep. It was originally planned to span a 2 hour double lesson, but can easily be split into a series of lessons. It can most definitely be used @ KS3 too! This pack includes: PowerPoint: 73 slides!!! Resource Booklet: 9 Sheets. This lesson is designed to be an overview of the life of Jesus. Starter activity: Give me 5 activity Summary of Task: Pupils are asked to draw what they think Jesus looked like and then watch a 5 min clip on what he probably looked like. There is a handy diagram illustrating the life of Jesus too. Pupils are taken through some facts about his lifestyle. Beat the Teacher: The next task pupils have to find Biblical references about the Messiah (Bibles are needed for this activity). Jesus, this is your life (in 10 mins) The PPT guides pupils through the life of Jesus and the main events that occurred. There is a match up activity on the names of Jesus and a HW task on the I am sayings. Plenary is our Moo or False activity-pupils absolutely love this!! Homework Activity: To research facts about Jesus in preparation for their next lesson. The Existence of God: The Existence of God. This is a ‘Grab & Go’ Lesson-Zero prep Required and is designed to get pupils thinking about the existence of God through the Ontological Theory. Included: PowerPoint (53 slides) & Work booklet (10 pages) This lesson slots into any year 9 SoW or can be used alongside our GCSE resources designed for the new specification. (This is lesson 5 in the range). This can either be a fast paced 60 minutes or span two lessons. Giving pupils the initial lesson to research and plan and then the second lesson as a P4C lesson to thoroughly debate this topic. It is a fully resourced lesson with PowerPoint and worksheets with a card sort sheet that can either be printed and pupils can cut the information out to stick in their books or you can laminate the cards for group tasks. There is also a help sheet included on how to come up with a convincing argument. Homework: Pupils have to research famous Theist, Atheist and Agnostics and their principles along with some very important religious vocabulary. The aim is for pupils to come up with plausible arguments whether there is or is not a God (using the Ontological Theory as evidence) and to present this in a group discussion. The History of Christianity: This is a Grab & Go Lesson! Zero prep. This lesson is designed to be a summary of some of the key events in Christian history. It is the 3rd in the series of resources we are creating for the new RS GCSE. The starter activity is based on our the fidget spinner activity from last lesson and is designed to ascertain pupil understanding of last lesson’s topic. There is a Fidget Spinner Placemat that is designed to be enlarged to A3 size for pupils to make notes as they progress through the starter activity. There is also a fidget spinner sheet (without space for notes) that you can print in colour and laminate for classroom use. Pupils have opportunity to use the Religious Studies Vocabulary Booklet to add any additional Key Words they learn during the lesson. Additionally, There is an order activity on key events in the Bible and Christianity to date. There are lots of events included to give you the option to use them all or select the events that you would like to include in your own lessons. The plenary activity is our Emoji Graph. Pupils are asked to choose some of the key events in Christian history and create an emoji graph based on this. The number of events for them to choose has been left to your discretion depending on the ability of the class. This PPT also includes a video link to Christianity in our society today. The Death of Jesus: This is an interactive guide surrounding some of the key concepts used to explain the reasons for Jesus’ sacrifice. Pupils will have use of a poem, Biblical quotes and these key terms to discuss, analyse and select the most relevant information relating to the beliefs about death in Christianity. They will then be tasked with answering an exam style question: “Explain why the death of Jesus is important? (4)” Life after Death Quotes: This is a single resource sheet that includes Biblical quotes that are based on life after death. We usually give these to pupils at the beginning of the topic so that they can refer to them when we are studying different aspects of the beliefs, teachings and practices that surround death. This is particularly useful when pupils are answering exam style questions. They can refer to this sheet to help them support their answers with Biblical teachings.
